94. Make 25 New “Friends”

I would have to define what I consider a “friend”. A friend is someone that I actually feel like I “know”. I would have to know at least ten things about them, and have regular conversations with them for a period of time. It would be nice if I would look forward to our coversations and video game sessions.

About a month ago I became friends with KarmaCrazy and KarmaVixen. That’s 2.

I am also friends with Kari Rose. That’s 3.

I’ve be-friended a co-worker, Sylvia. That’s 4.

I’m starting to become friends with Mephisto9112, Duff420hed, Enemy Fire, HippieBubbles, and Captin Atlas.

That brings my total to 9.

I think I may have been crazy to say I would make 25 new friends. This means that I can’t invest time into building stronger relationships with my current friends, but I actually have to make new ones! So if you are my friend already and I haven’t posted about you here… that’s why 😛

I sent out a mass message recently to all my Xbox live friends. I wanted to make sure that I knew at least a little bit about the people who were my “friends” on live.

I would like to have 25 new friends, and I suppose I have roughly 3 years to complete this so I don’t need to be in any sort of a rush. 4 friends is a pretty good start.

I’ve started to build those friendships with people on live… now all I have to do is wait for them to blossom. Do I have anymore takers!?

Goal #66 Completed {3D movie}

66. Go to the cinema and watch a movie in 3D

I went to the cinema with lll KiRa lll, Corinne and Justin a couple weeks ago. We saw Toy Story 3 in 3D! I didn’t even remember putting this goal as one of my 101 Things in 1001 Days. It was a cute movie. I loved how it accurately showed “Daycare”. 😀 Everyone was able to see what I do on a daily basis. I love my kids though! They are so sweet!

Nothing really “jumped” out of the screen, but it was cool to be all nerdy with the glasses. Cartoons are fantastic for 3D because there is so much you can do with it.

Goal accomplished 😀



Goal #53 Completed {draw a picture}

53. Draw a Picture

Manga!! :3

While travelling in Oregon, I picked up a new drawing book. I have an old purple book with drawings from years ago (like 10 years!). I wanted to draw again, and since it’s one of my 101 Things I decided that I should start fresh.

My first attempt at Manga drawing… I think her eyes need to be bigger 🙂

I’m not very good at drawing, but I figured that I would try just to see what I could come up with. I spend a large portion of my day looking at children’s art and how much they improve just by practicing.

I’m pretty sure that’s why I put draw a picture on my list. Not because it’s a hard thing to accomplish, but rather it’s hard to get into it and actually enjoy it for the sake of drawing.

It’s still incomplete… but a work in progress

In Oregon, while camping, I drew a bug picture and a girl. Yesterday, August 4, 2010, I drew a couple manga pictures. Again. They are not very good. I do expect that if I keep drawing then they will improve. Each one took less than 30 minutes. I know this because it was the amount of time I spent sitting on the train in the morning.

Goal #100 Completed {Inspire Someone}

Coffee & Christmas in August 😉

I’m just on the train-bus home from a coffee/shopping date with Shannon. We have been trying to get together forever!! I work close to where she lives but we have conflicting schedules.

We have a texting relationship. Cute morning messages and plans to get together. FTW we had a fantastic day.

On xbox we play different games and at different times. She’s a fan of Halo. (*cough* that sucks! :P) hehe… but regardless, I love her. She’s starting to expand her gaming. I saw that she’s playing Rockband Beatles. She told me that she finished the main game and challenges on guitar. She’s still playing on easy/medium. If anyone wants to play with us to get an a few achievement’s that would be sweet! She needs the 1,000,000 score and finishing the story within 24 hours. I think I might need that one too?

We got full fat crazy drinks at the bucks. I ordered a: tall, soy, peppermint, java chip frap with double chocolate chips and double blended with no whip. Clearly I’m craving chocolate… and I love it! Shannon had a all caramel frap with full fat whip. Silly girl forgot to order half fat whip. I didn’t even know they did that!? How do you create milky creamy whipping cream with half the fat? Oh well… I’ve never been a fan of whip cream so I don’t mind either way 😉 It took me about an hour or more to get through my tall frap. I have no idea how people can drink a venti! It’s like eating 2 meals. I am totally full off my tall frap (12 oz). I am pretty sure that a venti is 24 oz. Crazy!

Shannon doesn’t like the skytrain and I’m not a fan of regular city buses, so we wandered around Granville street. It is the perfect street in Vancouver. Everything is there. There is a wonderful little comic book store, a new faery/magick store, and of course all sorts of adult stores 😉 We also went to the Rock Shop to see if there was anything cool there. I managed to pick up a couple small things for Kari (cause I am working on my return package). I have to find the right things to send. It’s difficult, but I hope to get it right. I’ve never had a real penpal.

… since I haven’t seen Shannon in forever, she actually had a lovely little bag for me that contained my Christmas present! 😀 Yes, a Christmas present. I love her (in case you missed that from the beginning of this post). I felt so cheesy carrying it around downtown, in and out of all the stores cause it says “Season’s Greeting’s” on the bag with lights, holly, and snowflakes. The tissue paper sticking out of the top is red and green too. I suppose I could have put it into my bag, but I loved that I had a Christmas present in August! The card even said 2009. Shannon wins. ❤

The gift is this HUGE-ly thoughtful gift. It’s a little poem with all sorts of things attached, that lasts for the whole year. So it’s okay that I didn’t get it till now cause it’s still current 😉

It reads:

A toothpick: to pick out the good in all situations

A band-aid: to help mend the rough times

An eraser: to remind you that everybody makes mistakes

A treat: to savor a little time for yourself

Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life.

Apparently all I need to know, I learned from the Easter bunny!

I found out that I’ve managed to complete another one of my 101 Things in 1001 Days. Shannon is inspired to do her own list. She wants to do a couple of the same things as I’ve chosen to do. It would be fantastic if we could work though some of them together. For example, getting a professional hair cut/style. I am still growing out all the black hair dye I had in my hair. It’s pretty much gone now and my hair is finally just past my shoulders. I have naturally dark brown hair, and it’s curly. I love it, but I went though a black phase (which lasted about 10 years), and it’s time for something different. I want to go into a salon and ask them to do something fun and modern with my hair. A little preppy and gothic would be nice. I’d have to find the right salon first. Shannon wants to keep the length of her hair but also get something more professional. She’s had the same hair cut forever! I think it would be a lot of fun to have a girl friend to go through the list with.

Shannon was thinking that one of her things might be to go to 20 different resturants. What a fantastic choice! I wish I thought of that. I could have suckered lll KiRa lll to taking me out all the time. Oh … but wait… we always eat out 😉 I’ve tried eating at home, but I hate doing dishes. I’d rather pay someone else to do all the dirty work. We were talking about hiring a Molly Maid (they come over as often as you want to clean your house). Sweet deal.

While shopping, we went into a few clothing stores. Punky ones of course. Shannon is more of a sexy 50’s girl, whereas I’m more of a sexy goth girl. She loves the polka dots and longer dresses. I love frills, lace, and short skirts. We are the same size so we could easily mix-and-match our outfits. P.s. She had the most amazing Wonder Girl outfit for Halloween last year. This year she is thinking about being Princess Leia. I haven’t given any thought to my outfit. Ahhh… I suppose I should start planning it. I love parties and going out with friends.

Halloween is my favourite time of year! Hmm… what to be?! Any suggestions!? I totally expect some comments. Come on… I know you’re reading! 😉

The only thing missing from our adventure today was a psychic reading. Shannon was really keen on finding a $5 reading. That would have been cool. Maybe next time :3

Goal #6 In Progress {gym}

6. Exercise at least 2 times a week for 2 months

I’ve been trying to work on my 101 Things. Especially those which take a couple months to complete.

I went to the gym a couple times a few weeks back, but it pretty much killed me so I didn’t go for a while. I’ve decided that if I go for less time and work my way up to more, than that’s what might work for me.

Today (July 24^th) I went to the gym probably for 30 mins. I did a warmup run on the treadmill for 5 minutes, then about 15 mins doing weights and about 20 sit-ups. I want to tone my stomach and legs. Well… really, I just want some muscle on my skin and bones! I finished with 6 minutes on the elliptical glider machine thing.

On my way out of the gym, there was a guy coming in with a bird on his shoulder. Ok. Fine. Some people like their birds… but this was a pigeon! Eww.

So… let’s see if I can keep this up!

Goal #72:  Go Camping Twice

This summer I traveled down to Oregon and I camped all along the coast. I will count that as Camping trip #1.

It was amazing!! I love camping 🙂

I love fires… they are so pretty!

…and of course a beautiful beach is a must!

Goal #64 In Progress {concerts}

Goal # 64: Go to at least 10 gigs/concerts

Yesterday (July 16, 2010) I bought 2 new concerts tickets! I can’t wait!!

On September 22nd,  I will be seeing Katatonia!

On September 26th, I will be seeing Avenged Sevenfold, Distrubed, Stone Sour, Hell Yeah, and a whole bunch of other bands!!! =)

On July 30th I picked up tickets to go see Bullet for my Valentine with Blacktide and Escape the Fate.

The concert is on October 20th at the Commodore. It’s a Wednesday so I decided to book off Thursday and Friday from work. I could sure use a visit with my mom after the concert! It’s been ages! =)

Goal #45 Completed {trinket}

Goal: # 45

What: Buy a trinket while in Oregon

Why:  Because I love justifying that I can spend money. I wanted an excuse to adventure into the city of Oregon and browse their stores.

How: We drove from Tillamook to Portland and tried to find parking in the madness of downtown. $1.60 for an hour. So…I had one hour to find my trinket! Ah, but first I had to have a starbucks cause I was totally coffee deprived! Then off to find a store. I was on Jefferson and 11th and walked all the way down to 3rd to find the starbucks. I could have bought something there but I was on a mission to find something authentically made in Oregon. I know.. it wasn’t part of the requirements but I like stuff to be made in the place that I’m at. Everything I came across was Made in China. Made in China. Made in China. FAIL. I wanted something Made in Oregon or Made in USA.

I asked a security guard where the nearest shops were because downtown Portland is very spread out and the stores are stretched for blocks! He suggested the local mall a few blocks down 4th. So that’s where we headed.

The mall was the same as every other mall. Stores. Purses, clothes, make-up, junk. There was a game stop but I don’t think that classifies as a trinket. Although it would be cool if it did!

Julien found a store called “Made in Oregon”. How perfect!! We went down to the store and on the backs and fronts of items, guess what it said. Guess… just take a wild guess. Do you think the products were made in Oregon? UHM no. That’s right. Not much was actually made in Oregon. Sigh. I almost gave in and decided to buy a Made in China sold in Oregon trinket when my eye caught a cool little metal frog holding an umbrella. I looked at his tags. Authentically Made in Oregon! WOOHOO!!! I was bringing home my new little froggie and I had accomplished one of my goals.

We were about 10 minutes late to get to our car, and luckily there wasn’t any tickets and it was still there!

I love my new little trinket. I wonder what I should name him? MIO? Yea.. that will suit him.

# 62. Watch an entire TV series that I haven’t seen yet {in progress}

Pretty Little Liars (Season 1, Episode 1)

~*Spoiler Alert*~

I’ve decided to work on another one of my “101 Things”. I am starting a new television series.

I’m watching a super cheesy girly show called “Pretty Little Liars”. There are 4 main characters:

• Spencer

yes I know it’s a boy’s name typically… but this is a girl character
She spent the whole summer cleaning out the barn so she could move into it and then her sister, Melissa arrived with her boyfriend and they are living in the barn instead. Spencer has a crush on her sister’s boyfriend.

• Aria

She just got back from traveling in Europe and hooked up with a random guy at the bar, which turned out to be her high school teacher

• Emily

Got stoned for the first time and almost kissed the girl she was with.
She’s an athlete

• Hanna

Shoplifts at the mall, and has become the new “It” girl at high school.
Her parents are divorced
She gets arrested while at home because there was a video of her shoplifting, but don’t worry cause her mom is going to sleep with the cop who arrested her!

All the girls were together and one of their friends “died”. The girl’s name is Allison and she disappeared and/or is missing. They don’t know if she is alive or not. The 4 girls that were with her stopped talking to each other because of the secret of being with her? Or something else… we don’t’ know yet.

There are notes being left for the other girls when they do something “off”.

• There was a note for Aria because she made out with a teacher, and Allison (the missing girl) was with Aria when she caught her dad (who is also a teacher) having an affair with a student.
• There was a note for Emily, about finding a new girl to kiss (I guess Allison was her old girly).
• A note for Spencer pops up on her computer saying that if she kisses her sister’s boyfriend then Allison will tell. BUT Spencer knows a big secret about a girl name “Jenna” and Allison. Ooohh… the suspense!
• Hanna got a note telling her to be careful because prison food makes you fat.

The girls don’t want to tell anyone about the notes being left for them.

The end of the first episode has a climax’s with a lovely little twist that I didn’t expect the directors to do till way later. They find Allison’s body. She is dead.

We are introduced to Jenna, or at least get a glimpse of her.

I’m curious if this Allison character will be similar to the character in Desperate Housewives who narrates the beginning and ending of each episode.  A bit of Gossip Girl (I’m still here bitches and I know everything –A). She sends text messages and no one knows who she really is, but she knows everything that the girls are doing.

Pretty Little Liars (Season 1, Episode 2)

~*Spoiler Alert*~

All the girls are finally talking to each other. There is something huge (or at least huge to them) that they know about a girl named Jenna.  Allison knew everything about the girls (when she was alive) but the 4 girls

Secrets that they know about Allison:

• She was seeing someone. An older guy that had a girlfriend.

Jenna walked into the café that all the 4 girls were at and they dispersed without saying a word to each other. Hmm…  she is a very interesting character.

A news broadcast announced that Allison was suffocated and had trauma to her head. Ps. They found her body in the last episode.

Mia is the new girl who moved into Allison’s house and has the same bedroom. She is also Emily’s new girly.

All the girls go about their daily business at school. Until they get called to the office.  While they walk down the halls, Aria gets a message from A that says, “dead girl’s walking”.

Jenna joins the girls for lunch because Aria invites her, and she tells that girls that Allison actually went to visit her in the hospital after she had the “accident”.

Flashback: A boy named Toby was spying on the girls as they changed clothes in Emily’s bedroom. They went to his house, and Allison wanted to have some fun by putting a stink bomb in his house. It actually blew up. The house  caught fire.

Hanna has a boyfriend named Sean. Hanna tries to hit on him, but he pushes her away. Apparently he wants to wait before having doing anything intimate. He is the preacher’s son.

Spencer has very uptight parents and she is only allowed to register in classes that are for academic purposes not fun. She needs to succeed at everything. Spencer eventually kisses her sister’s boyfriend and her sister walks by the bedroom and sees them in the reflection of a mirror. Awe sad… the next time you see him he is walking away with all his crap.

Emily starts to get cozy with Mia in bed when she gets a text from A. Oh no… she is everywhere!!  She is taking the pressure of being a lesbian? Bi? Curious? Very hard and sulks around a lot. She almost tells her mom, but decides not to.

Hanna’s mom is sleeping with the police officer who is investigating Allison’s death. This police officer won’t leave their family alone and is watching Hanna while she is out at the mall with her friends.

Aria gets closer to her teacher. She tried to drop his class but it got denied. He coincidently showed up at the same theatre that she was at with her mom! Aria’s mom invites him to join them.  It is a romance that shouldn’t be happening, but is… and why shouldn’t it be? Cause he’s an adult and she is a teenage girl perhaps? But she is happy and the way he looks at her. Blah, blah, blah… sigh.

This is turning out to be the same stereotypical story line as most prime-time shows.

You may want to like the characters but you may disagree with their choices. You might also agree with their choices under the circumstances. I’m sure that there are things you don’t agree with morally but if you know your best friend is doing that “thing” than it might be less wrong? I am really trying to find something intriguing about this show.

Now Allison is threatening to hurt someone because she doesn’t like it when students kiss teachers.

Spencer is out for a run when she catches Jenna with a bunch of phones on her lap, she hears Jenna saying “send text now”.

Is it possible that Jenna is trying to be Allison? Did she kill her? Does she feel she is suppose to be the next Allison because of whatever accident happened?  I suppose these are the types of questions that most viewers are asking.

I have 3 more episodes to watch and that will determine if I can handle following this series all the way through. What if I’m stuck watching it for years!?! ahhh… the agony! Nah, it’s an ABC show so it will last at most 2 seasons.
