More Concert Tickets!

Today should be a rather eventful day. I am going to work and then meeting up with an old friend from college that I haven’t seen in ages. Except for a quick “hello” on the skytrain! We are going to … Continue reading

After I massively spammed my Xbox friends… and yes, they are “friends”. I found that a lot of them wanted to know my answers to the 10 questions. So… here goes: Questions: 1) How old are you and where are … Continue reading

Have You Mastered This Game?

While I was on my way home from work last night, I got a text from Gil. He wanted to grab coffee before his soccer game. We met at the bucks near my place and he stayed 15 minutes too late!! O.o uh oh… I suppose our conversations about him dropping some girl onto the sidewalk (and she chipped one of her teeth) was a bit too intense to leave 😉

We also spoke about how he has become more socially skilled in the past few months. Let’s be honest here… most gamers (and people who spend a huge chuck of their lives committed to one person) is socially inept IRL (In Real Life). Obviously I’m excluded from this because I’m more socially inept in the virtual world 😉

Gil read the famous man-ish bible about girls: The Game. If you haven’t read it, go to your nearest Chapters (or local bookstore) and get your hands on it! Boys and girls should read this. It’s the honest insight to a nerdy boy who turned into a … well… player. There are all sorts of tips and suggestions to improve your skills. Socializing is a skill, not a talent. Thus, it can be studied 😉 and improved!

A lot of what is written in The Game is hogwash and you wouldn’t want to implement it into your life. Take your pick and try out different strategies that would work with your personality. I saw a very sweet puppy-eyed boy show me his “pick-up” for girls at clubs. WOW. He looked so innocent and fun. This same boy would sit home alone not knowing what to do with himself for a very long time (before and after his break-up). We were friends cause we have games, comic books, and concerts in common…among other things! I’m not trying to pressure anyone to do anything, but it’s totally worth the read 😉 I saw first hand what it did to one of my best friends!

After talking about socializing, I decided I would do something about my virtual friends.

I decided that it was time to clear out “friends” on xbox live that aren’t friends at all.

… or perhaps I could maybe… imagine this… the unthinkable… I could be friends with them!

Basically, my friends list is maxed and I hate deleting people so I wanted to get to know my friends. I ❤ people that added me because I have 420+ DLC for Rockband 2, or because I play L4D2 (and hopefully don’t suck too much).

I decided to send out a mass message to everyone and awaited their responses. This was my message:

My Xbox live friends list is full… and I know that out of the 100 people here, I am really friends with about 10 people. So… if you actually want to be my friend and stay on my list then I have 10 questions for you.

Questions:

  1. How old are you and where are you from?
  2. What is your favourite bands (atm and all-time)?
  3. What is the best book you’ve read? -it can be a graphic novel 😉
  4. What is your favourite movie?
  5. What game do you play most often?
  6. Are you getting Rockband 3?
  7. What do you do besides play video games? Hobbies, occupation, etc…
  8. What is your favourite colour?
  9. What do you know about me?
  10. Is there anything you’d like to know about me?

I got a bunch of responses back right away and that totally made my day! Thanks!! 🙂 I would like to think that I know at least a few things about each person on my friends list. I know that it’s often hard to match up with people online that you have have stuff in common with (and their fun to play with).

My messages stopped sending because they were “maxed out for the day”. FAIL. So the first 5 questions went out and then I posted the rest in my bio for the night. I was still playing Left 4 Dead 2 after sending out the messages and random people were asking what it all meant so I decided to upload the questions and whole mental process onto my blog.

I hope you enjoyed the questions and I would love to know random tidbits of information about your lives! If you are my friends… show it! …and if you’re not my friend yet, but want to be… then I can’t wait to meet you 🙂

Have a lovely day!

Alan Wake DLC… check your emails!! O.o

So I was checking my email before bed and I found the code for Alan Wake: the Signal DLC. Woohoo!! It is the first DLC for Alan Wake. Apparently Alan has to wait for the signal to avoid a threat unlike anything he’s encountered yet! … but he’s intimately familiar with it.

Well, I can’t wait to play this! 😀

Wednesday aka Hump Day :3

Half way through the work week. This weekend will bring some use of muscles and beer drinking! Corinne is moving so I am going to attempt to lift a few boxes and do whatever I can to help. I am … Continue reading

Wicked Day/Brutal Night

Sunday was rather eventful for me. My day started off as any normal Sunday when I sit at home and play games while lll KiRa lll’s at work. I hate that he works on the weekend 😦 I started off with some Left 4 Dead 2. I usually roll out of bed and turn on my Xbox. While it’s loading, I wake up enough to play. After about 5 minutes I got a message from Duff420hed asking if I wanted to do the setlist cause I had blogged about it the previous day 😉 hehe…

I said sure! I didn’t have much else planned for the day. It took him about an hour to get ready and then we tried connecting for about 20 minutes. For some reason I couldn’t get past the character selection screen. WTF. Super frustrating. We both plugged our Xbox directly into the Internet. Nothing. Okay… so let’s find someone else to host.

I got in touch with Nickeagle and asked if he was keen. Totally thinking he’d be busy, because a 6 hour commitment (at the last minute) is hard to find. But… he was keen!!

So Nickeagle loaded it up and invited us all to a party and band. Mephisto9112 was going to join but I think there was some confusion with what was happening. The difficulty that we played on didn’t matter, just as long as we didn’t fail. Oh well.. maybe he couldn’t rock for that long, which is totally understandable. Perhaps I will be crazy enough to do it again before RB3 comes out.

After many hours of singing, drinking loads of water and coffee… and watching the boys rock out, I finally completed the Rockband 2 Endless Setlist 2 without pausing or failing. Whew! What a task that was!!

I think it’s the 4th time I’ve done it. The first time I played with a friend in California and we played as soon as the game was released and we made it far enough in the band to play. He failed a lot cause it was late by the time we were at the end. I think we started after I was out of class on a Friday night. So by the end, it was nearing 5am O.o

I played it through a second time to get platinum for my character. This was after I got my own Xbox and I wanted the data on mine. I kept the old character data on lll KiRa lll’s Xbox.

I played it a third cause I was using a different character more and I wanted her to be platinum too. Wow… I really have no life eh! 😉

(ps. That’s more of philosophical debate… what constitutes having a “life”).

The 84 songs take just under 6 hours to complete if no one fails. I’ve always played it with people online. I couldn’t handle sitting there by myself talking to no one for 6 hours and singing! Blah… that would be terrible.

I was on vocals, Nickeagle was on bass, and Duff420hed was on drums. Needless to say… we kicked some serious Rockband butt! We started around 11am, after some tedious network and game issues. We were finished by dinner time and I went out to visit with lll KiRa lll’s family. His mom made us BBQ salmon burgers and salad. Yum!

It was pretty sweet that we always scored in the high nineties (and often 100%… especially for Nickeagle). After 60 songs I managed to get 92% on Shacklers Revenge. Which was bloody fantastic for me! I hate that song. :S

…after dinner we came home and I played some Alan Wake. I figured it had been a while, so I would try to not kill myself on Nightmare difficulty. I was typing up a blog post on my bed while playing. lll KiRa lll was beside me playing a new arcade game on the PS3. We ordered some late-night pizza and went to pick it up.

When I got home and turned my computer on so I could finish blogging, I found out that it was dead. Completely, totally, utterly… DEAD. The screen wouldn’t even turn on.

Not only am I so good with computers that I managed to delete my operating system last week. I killed my computer completely. We are guessing that the fan over heated and melted the motherboard cause it was plugged in with the battery. Sigh…

I have been without a computer since then 😦 The longest I’ve ever gone! Even before my netbook I had

a HUGE heavy laptop that I lugged around with me.

Sad, terrible, brutal way to end a wickedly awesome day!

Goal #6 In Progress {gym}

6. Exercise at least 2 times a week for 2 months

I’ve been trying to work on my 101 Things. Especially those which take a couple months to complete.

I went to the gym a couple times a few weeks back, but it pretty much killed me so I didn’t go for a while. I’ve decided that if I go for less time and work my way up to more, than that’s what might work for me.

Today (July 24th) I went to the gym probably for 30 mins. I did a warmup run on the treadmill for 5 minutes, then about 15 mins doing weights and about 20 sit-ups. I want to tone my stomach and legs. Well… really, I just want some muscle on my skin and bones! I finished with 6 minutes on the elliptical glider machine thing.

On my way out of the gym, there was a guy coming in with a bird on his shoulder. Ok. Fine. Some people like their birds… but this was a pigeon! Eww.

So… let’s see if I can keep this up!
